Thousands were inspired by direct conversations with Brother Roger, and speak of his compassion and interest. Essentially, though, he taught them what he practised himself: the sustaining power of prayer: “I do not deny the value of all these talks we have with them, yet the finest thing is not to be found there, but in our waiting in contemplation” (from Panorama Aujourd’hui).
