I would have expected the NorthEast and the Southern East Coast to be the other way 'round. Some places like the Texas panhandle are just like you'd expect, partly because there just aren't that many residents there -- but then you have Wyoming, which is both resident-free and religion-free. Go figure.

With the exception of Utah (the Mormons), the religiousbely is vertical, up and down the heartland of the country. It's about what I'd expect, based on experience.
